#3118 - Date matching?

Closed General Question created by ghansen 4 years ago

I've installed the plugin and is working great! It defiantly gives you a sense of confidence in your data.

On the date fields I noticed that there is not option to "Match" only time periods like today, yesterday, this year, etc. I have records that have a policy number but they can have different expiration years. I'm wanting to find true duplicates that have the same policy number and same expiration year. is there a way to match a date field like you would a number field?

Thank you for this time saving plugin!

    Hi ghansen,

Yes, you are right, The Duplicate Cleaner at the moment matches the date for 'today, yesterday, this year', etc.. It doesn't allow you to check for the exact year. We have added this to our plans and might include in the future release.

In order to help you achieve what you are looking for, A quick solution comes to my mind, Create a new "text" field "expiration year" in CRM. Copy the date column to the new "text" field by having only the year in it and excluding the date and time. This will give you a field that only has the expiration year in it.

Then you use the duplicate cleaner to check for your conditions with the new field.

    Hello ghansen,

You can also use the "Is Between" operator for your date field. Duplicate Cleaner will ask 2 dates to find the data between them.

For example, if you want to find the policy expiration year = 2020, then you will need to select 01-01-2020 to 31-12-2020 for your date field.

I appreciate the suggestion however I need to search multiple years and I can only use the date variable once so I cannot use an "or" logic for multiple years. I need to be able to search for a year match. f I have multiple policies with the same policy number but different years and these are not duplicates but I need to identify multiples of a policy with the same policy number and same year.

I would have to set up 10 rules for each year going back 10 years and then set up an additional year for ever consecutive year. This will work but a "match" feature in the year field would allow me to set up 1 rule and make it much easier to manage.

      Thank you for your response.

    Hello ghansen,

I understand, But your need is very specific to a unique problem statement. This is not the major of the people will look for. The good thing is it can still help you get the solution with multiple rules. For a quick solution, You can think of my previous solution, where you copy the date(year only) into a new text field, and for that new text field select the Exact Match operator. Just trying to get you the way out.
