#1143 - Marking an email address as "Invalid" in suitecrm for a Contact / Lead does not stop Mailchimp from sending emails to them

Closed Bug? created by stephen 6 years ago

Marking an email address as "Invalid" in suitecrm for a Contact / Lead does not stop Mailchimp from sending emails to them. I was expecting that if I marked it as "invalid" in SuiteCrm, that SugarChimp would unsubscribe the email in MailChimp.

    Hello Stephen,

I apologize for any issues you're having around the opt out flags in SuiteCRM and syncing to MailChimp. As you've described, the default functionality for SugarChimp is to use unsubscribe records whenever their email address is marked as opted out. If this is not working, then something is going wrong in that process and we need to figure out what that is. Can you schedule a call with us to look at it together? You can do that here: https://calendly.com/fanaticallabs/sugarchimp-support

On the call, we can subscribe a test record (using my email address) and then mark it as invalid. We will turn the logging up significantly to see if we can find the breakdown somewhere. We should be able to get this resolved quickly.

    Thanks! Jon

      Jon,

I've been using the "Invalid" flag manually when emails bounce back as people no longer having that email. Do you look at the "Invalid" flag, or just the "Opt-Out" flag?

We look at both flags, however the integration should be marking cleaned email addresses for you automatically for hard bounces. Either way, something is not working as expected. Why don't we get on a call to figure out where's its messing up. You are doing all of the right things (probably more work that necessary). Schedule a Meeting

      We will figure it out.

      Thanks, Jon

That sounds. It's not an immediate priority for me and I have a few things I have to take care of. I also plan on upgrading from 7.9.9 to 7.10.x; let me take care of that and see if the issue still exists. I'll get back to you as soon as that's done either way.

    Hello Stephen,

I just wanted to touch base with you and see if you have been able to upgrade SuiteCRM and test the integration piece yet? Let me know if I can help with anything.

    Thanks! Jon
